An integral part of the treatment package provided by the Maternal Mental Health Service is the care provided by Bureau Respite Nurses. The respite care can be in the ante-natal period, throughout the Birthing time or in the Postpartum period.

For the first time an opportunity to provide a Comprehensive 2 ½ day training package has arisen. Presented will be an overview of the Respite service provided prior to the training, an overview of the training package and discuss implications of offering this as part of a service delivery to treat perinatal psychiatric disorders.
