Dr Karen Wynter (VIC)

President


Dr Karen Wynter, our president, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organisation. She studied Psychology, Applied Statistics, and Education at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, South Africa, and later at the University of Cambridge in the UK.

After settling in Melbourne, Australia, Karen worked in public health roles at the University of Melbourne and Monash University. Currently, she holds the position of Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Women’s and Children’s Mental Health within the Department of Psychiatry at Monash University. Additionally, she serves as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Deakin University.

Karen's research focuses on understanding the factors that contribute to perinatal mental health issues in both women and men. Her work underscores her dedication to improving support and resources for individuals during pregnancy and early parenthood.
