Skye Stewart is a proud Wergaia and Wemba Wemba midwife, currently working alongside Sue O’Shannessy as Senior Project Officer of the Koori Maternity Strategy at VACCHO (Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation), and she takes on the additional role of the Safe Sleep Project Lead at Red Nose. Skye also sits on Indigenous Advisory Committee with the Stillbirth Centre of Research Excellence and the Expert Advisory Committee for Healing the Past, Nurturing the Future research projects. An advocate of health equity and social justice, Skye understands the cultural determinants of health and believes better health outcomes and thriving communities are possible if we place kindness, understanding, commitment and solidarity at the core of our healthcare practices and systems.
